Atom Sailorettes win two more over the holidays.
The McGeemotors.ca Atom Sailorettes travelled to Seaforth on Saturday December 29th for an exhibition game against the top place team in the WOGHL. The game ended 4-3 for the Sailorettes and was the first loss of the season for the Seaforth girls.

The Sailorettes had not played since December 9th and the first period certainly reflected that until the Sailorettes found their game.

The home team scored first but their lead was short lived when Courtney Gardiner put the Sailorettes on the board. In the second period, the Seaforth girls were still skating hard and went ahead 2-1 however the Sailorettes continued to apply pressure and Becky Higgs found the twine to tie the game. This goal signalled the "winds of change" as the Sailorettes began to regain their momentum and found themselves ahead 3-2 in the third when Megan Johnston fired a razer past the Seaforth goalie. Ashley Bakker responded with the 4th Sailorette goal to make the game 4-2 for the girls in red. Seaforth was not willing to give up and managed to add one more goal.

A great team effort by all the girls and great goaltending from Haley Bowman and Kaitlyn Chagnon. Way to go, girls.

The McGeemotors.ca Atom Sailorettes ended 2007 with an impressive 11-1 victory over Mount Forest on December 30th to stretch their winning streak to 13 games.

A great game was played by all the girls. Top scorer for the Sailorettes was Megan Johnston with five goals. Also scoring for the Sailorettes were Katelyn McGee (2) , Hailey Bakker (2), Shaley Oster (1) and Ashley Bakker (1).  Assists went to Kayla McCabe, Hailey Bakker, Amy Willis, Kailee Hewitt and Ashley Bakker. Adding to the team effort were Haley Ferguson and Madison Mclean.

Kaitlyn Chagnon and Haley Bowman shared the goaltending responsibilities and both were solid in net.

The girls look forward to their first home game of 2008 when they host Howick on Sunday, January 6, 2008 at 2:00pm at Memorial Arena.
