Atom Sailorettes finish 2nd at Brampton
The McGeeMotors.ca Atom girls travelled to Brampton on March 22-23, 2008 for the Brampton Canadettes Easter Tournament.  There were 428 teams in the tournament and 16 teams in the atom girls "C" division.  This tournament is very popular with the girl's teams across Canada and the USA and is the largest and longest running girl's tournament.

The Atom girls played all Ontario teams, mainly from the GTA.

In their first game, they met up with the Scarborough Sharks where they took a bite out of the Sharks, beating them 4-0.  The team celebrated each goal with a "guitar hero" finish.

The 2nd game of the tournament saw them whomp the Whitby Wolves 6-0.  The girls were pumped heading back to the hotel for a night of fun, swimming and climbing the waterslide, knowing they had advanced to the 1/4 final round.  Saturday the girls were tired and would meet up with a local Toronto team, the Leaside Wildcats who would defeat the Sailorettes 3-2 in a come from behind victory.

The girls finished 2nd in the round robin play and they would meet up with the North York Storm for an early morning 1/4 final game on Easter Sunday.  The girls came prepared to play and would beat the Storm 3-0, advancing to the semi-finals.

The semis saw them matched up against the Kingston Ice Wolves.  The girls would find themselves down 1-0 but would fight back and go on to defeat the Ice Wolves, 3-2 in OT.

The girls were heading to the finals against another Southwestern Ontario team, the St. Thomas Panthers.  This game was rougher than the girls were used to but they would take the lead 2-1.  However, the Panthers would tie the game up in the 3rd period and would score to take the lead with 2 minutes left in the 3rd period.  The Sailorettes applied the pressure but the victory would not come.  They would end up 2nd place out of 16 teams.

Great showing girls.  Be proud of yourselves and remember, it's okay to be called "farmers" by the teams you just beat because farmers feed cities!!
