McGee Motors.ca Atom Girls 1-3 at Stratford Aces Tournament
The McGee Motors.ca Atom Girls travelled to Stratford this past weekend and came away with one victory and two losses and a lot of experience playing competitive "C" teams.

The girls were disappointed that their first game was Friday at 12:00pm noon which meant they had to miss school but they pulled together and agreed to go meet their opponent, the Ingersoll Ice.  The game was sluggish and Ingersoll scored first.   The first and second periods ended 1-0 for Ingersoll.  The Sailorettes maintained their composure and early in the 3rd period, Katelyn McGee passed the puck to Megan Johnston who skated in and fired the puck hard over the Ingersoll netminder's shoulder, tying the game.  The Sailorettes soon found themselves on the powerplay and with a scramble in front of the net, Megan Johnston managed to backhand the puck into the net to take the lead.  With 2 minutes left in the game, Becky Higgs fired one into the net to secure the win.  Player of the game went to Madison McLean.

The second game of the tournament saw the girls face off against a strong Twin Centre team.  The Sailorettes were unable to score, despite dominating the game and the score ended 3-0 for Twin Centre.  Despite the loss, it was a great team effort and Coach Henry was proud of the girl's efforts on the ice.  Player of the game went to Megan Johnston.

The final game of the tournament saw the Sailorettes matched up against a very strong squad from Mitchell, Ontario.  The girl's lost to Mitchell 7-1 but they never lost their desire to play.  The highlight of the game was Becky Higgs scoring on the Mitchell netminder.  Player of the game went to Katelyn McGee.

The girls enjoyed their weekend in Stratford and a lot of them came home with "chicks with sticks" apparel.  The girls want to thank all their fans for supporting them this weekend and look forward to attending the Regional Silver Stick tournament in Port Elgin on November 23-25.
