First 10 Games wrap up.
The Marcc Apparel
Bantam Sailors are now 1/3 of the way through the regular season without
a loss and leading in the WOAA South Division with 16 points.
They have seen a variety of game situations so far and its been great experience for this maturing team of young hockey players. A physical Blyth-Brussels team good at drawing retaliatory penalties had the Boys going 3-2 into the 3rd after playing 8 minutes shorthanded in the 2nd. Settling down Goderich retaliated with skill in the 3rd period and had the Blyth team frustrated and playing shorthanded for 8 minutes with the final score 5-3 Goderich. The Sailors have spent an average of only 2.6 minutes per game in the penalty box as a team. In Mintos during a lop sided 12-3 game, the forward and defensive lines switched up for the 3rd period giving players an appreciation for the contribution of the other 1/2 of the bench. Out skating and out shooting BCH 3:1 in an exhibition game, their hot goal tender held the Sailors to 3 goals and a funny bounce off our goaltenders helmet into the net ended in a 3-3 tie game. Playing 7 games in 9 days from October 14-22 gave them a feel for what playing hockey full time with a heavy schedule can be like. All players on the team dug down and met this challenge logging 6 wins and a tie. They still looked just as sharp at the end of this marathon with an impressive 5-1 victory over the 2nd place in the division Kincardine Kinucks.
