Game 3 Playoffs Win Against the Ironmen
February
19th – Wingham at Goderich. The Sailors played another strong game of
defense and offense, this time against the Wingham Ironmen in game 3 of their
playoffs. Ryan was the first on the
scoreboard with a nicely placed top corner shot on a screened Wingham goalie
off a set-up from James.
Noah then won the faceoff and made a rush into the Wingham end to land a bar down, unassisted, shorthanded goal and make it 2-0. With less than a minute left in the first period, Ryan put the Sailors ahead 3-0 off a backhand shot from a nice assist by Josh H. and James. Alex landed the only goal of the second period with a nice side pocket shot to make it a 4-0 game going into the third period. The boys did well on the penalty killing throughout the game, but with 2 players in the bad boy box Wingham managed to land a goal in the third period and end the game 4-1. Nyden’s solid goaltending and the Sailors’ defensive lines did a great job fighting off the advances of the Ironmen and kept sending the play back into in the Wingham zone. Keep up the hard work Sailors!
