Sailors Take on the Sabres!
December
28th – South Huron at Goderich. The Sailors faced off against the West
Division’s South Huron Sabres for the first time this season in an exhibition
game. The Sabres were not to be
underestimated and managed to keep the Sailors off the scoreboard for most of
the first period. However, at the 2:37
mark of the period, Michael cleared the puck to Josh B. who made a well executed pass to Logan who then sniped a nice angle shot past the South Huron goalie to end the
first period 1-0.
Ryan made a rush for the South Huron net right off the first face off of the second period and deked the goalie to make it 2-0 (assist by Nathan). Logan got his second goal of the game 2 minutes later with a nice tip-in off a set-up from James and Josh H. With the second period almost over, Nathan secured the deal sealing goal with a nicely placed lower pocket shot off an assist from Noah and Josh H. The Sailors were plagued with their usual third period penalty issues and played a good part of the period short-handed which led to some strong defensive play and goaltending. The scoreless third period resulted in a final 4-0 victory for Goderich and a shutout for Michael.
