Sailors Shoot Down the Stars!
December
21st – Seaforth/BCH at Goderich. Both the Sailors and Stars started their
second match of the season with speed and determination. The Sailors were the first on the scoreboard 5
minutes into the first period off a rush by Alex and nice top shelf goal
(assisted by Nathan). Justin landed the
next one for the Sailors, but it bounced out of the net and was not
counted. He made sure of things 5
seconds later off an assist from Snowden to put the Sailors ahead 2-0.
Seaforth fought back and made it 2-1 - but that was quickly countered by a nice set-up from Noah to Lucas to end the period 3-1. The Sailors turned up the heat in the second period to land 5 more with 2 more goals going to Alex, 1 for Lucas, Ryan and Noah and assists to James, Christian, Justin, Nick, Ryan and Noah. The third period saw 1 more point for Goderich with a deflection by Justin off a shot from Braeden from the point. Some of the boys were once again spending way too much time in the penalty box throughout the second and third period, but the team still managed to score several shorthanded goals and hold off the Seaforth advances. Good passing and teamwork carried the game for Goderich and the new lines are doing well – just imagine what could happen boys if you weren’t short-handed so much! Nyden was the player of the game with some amazing saves that held the Stars to just 1 goal and a final of 9-1 for the Sailors. Keep up the hard work and play smart!
