Win Against the Wolves!
December
20th – Ripley at Goderich. The second game against Ripley this season
was a back and forth battle between the Sailors and the Wolves. Ryan got Goderich on the scoreboard soon into
the first period with a rush around the Ripley defense and a nice deke on their
goalie (off an assist by Snowden). However, as much as the Sailors had multiple scoring opportunities, Ripley fought back and
tied things 1-1 with 1:34 left in the period. The Wolves then pulled out ahead 2-1 at the 12:58
mark of the second period, but 2 minutes later Josh B. made a nice rush and
weaved through the Ripley defenders to deke the goalie and tie the game
2-2.
Alex put the Sailors ahead 3-2 before the end of the period off his own rebound with a nice shot past the Ripley goalie. The Sailors came out strong in the third period with Josh B. and Snowden setting-up Ryan for a nice tap in goal at the 8:59 mark to make it 4-2. With 1 (or 2) Sailors in the penalty box for much of the third period, the Wolves were determined to score - but the strong Goderich defense and goaltending of Michael continued to shut them down. Nathan played strong offense throughout the game and potted the deal closer with 2:26 left in the game to make it 5-2. Ripley managed to land one more goal on a power play with 1 second left in the period to end the game 5-3. The player of the game went to Michael. Great work Sailors!
