Lions Peewee Rep Sailors Start The Season With A Win
The Lions Pee-Wee Rep's started their regular season by hosting the Mitchell Meteors on Saturday afternoon and walked away with a convincing 4-2 win.

The boys controlled the play in Mitchell’s end for most of the first period, but great goaltending by the Mitchell goalie kept the boys off the score sheet until late in the period when Cody scored on a nice shot off the wing with the assist going to Caden.

Evan put the Sailors up two goals in the second by jumping in to the play and firing a wrist shot past a screened Mitchell goalie. Cody and Kyler picked up assists on the goal. Cody struck again 90 seconds later with a beauty wrist shot to the top glove hand corner on a nice pass play from Caden and Kyle to give the Sailors a commanding 3-0 lead heading into the third period. The Sailors offence of Carter, Caden, Cody, Kyler, Ethan and Curtis were buzzing around the net all period.

Mitchell wasn’t going to quit and opening the scoring in the third period on a goal mouth scramble that just snuck past Bryson making it 3-1. This fired up Mitchell as they looked to take momentum, but solid defence by Dylan, Evan and Kyle and great goaltending by Bryson kept the Meteors at bay until Ethan scored on a rebound to put the Sailors up by three late in the game. Kyler and Curtis assisted on the play. Mitchell scored a late goal to make it a 4-2 final.

The boys are in action again Friday Oct 17th against BCH at the YMCA at 6 pm.
Come out and Cheer the Boys on.

The Lions Pee-Wee Rep Sailors would like to thank their sponsor, The Goderich Lions Club, for all their hard work and ongoing dedication.

Lions Club International is the world's largest service club organization. It has a membership of 1.4 million men and women in approximately 45,000 clubs located in 200 countries and geographical areas. Lions are recognized worldwide for their service to the blind and visually impaired. Melvin Jones, owner of the Melvin Jones Insurance Agency of Chicago, was invited to lunch with the Business Circle of Chicago in the early 1900's. He became a member, and was elected secretary in 1915. Soon he was wondering how the strength of this business organization could be directed towards unselfish service in the community. He began in 1916 to write to other clubs on the question of forming a national association for community service. On June 7, 1917, at the invitation of Melvin Jones, representatives of 27 clubs met in Chicago. At this meeting the nucleus of our Lions organization was born. Lions Clubs became International on March 12, 1920, when the border city of Windsor became a chartered member. Click here for more history on Lions International. This was followed by Hamilton and Toronto in 1920, London in 1921 and Goderich in 1922. The Goderich Lions Club was sponsored by the Windsor Lions Club, and received its Charter on August 22, 1922 with 27 charter members. Goderich Lions Club was the 4th club in Canada to receive its charter. The first luncheon of the Goderich Lions Club was held on September 21, 1922. The Today the Goderich Lions Club has an active membership of 86.
