McGee Motors Novice Reps One Win Away from Championship
The McGee Motors Novice Reps traveled to Mt. Forest for Game 2 of the WOAA Consolation Final and came out on top with a 3-1 win.
The first two periods were a see saw battle as both teams found the back of the net. The Sailors took the lead late in the first period when Logan was able to beat the Rams netminder with a quick low shot. Assists on the goal went to Iain and Aiden. However the lead was short lived as only 30 seconds later the home team tied it up.
In the second it was a battle of the goaltenders as Keon and the Rams netminder stopped everything that was thrown their way. In the middle of the second, Keon made an amazing save on a breakaway keeping the game dead locked at one.
In the third period the Sailors dug deep, and worked as a team, playing excellent defence and capitalizing on their opportunities. Iain scored halfway through the final frame firing a hard shot past the Rams goalie after receiving a pass from AJ, with the second assist going to Mason for a 2-1 lead. The Rams kept coming but the Sailors continued to work well in their own end, and Iain scored an insurance marker with only one munite left for a 3-1 lead, which held up to be the final score.
The McGee Motors Novice Reps are one win away from the Consolation Championship. Come out and cheer on these young Sailors on Saturday March 28th at 11:00 a.m. at the Maitland Recreation Centre for Game 3 and Game 4 will be played the same day at 3:30 also at the MRC if necessary. Go Sailors!!!!
