McGee Motors Novice Reps Win Game 1
On Sunday March 22nd the McGee Motors Novice Reps traveled to Mt. Forest for Game 1 of the WOAA Consolation final. The visiting team did not show any fatigue from traveling and came out flying opening the scoring only three minutes in when Iain made a rush up the ice and fired low shot past the Rams netminder.
In the second both teams got into penalty trouble as the Sailors and Rams found themselves down two players at seperate times during the period. However with some key stops from Keon, the Sailors were able to kill of their penalties and scored a power play goal late in the second when AJ stick handled his way to the front of the net and scored a beauty to the top shelf. The McGee Motors Novice Reps found themselves up 2-0 heading into the third.
In the third period the Sailors continued to play well in their defensive end, as the defensive core of AJ, Ella, Jared and Caleb passed the puck up to the forwards and chipped the puck off the boards when in trouble. The forwards all back checked hard and Keon continued to shut the door everytime the Rams came close. Half way through the final frame, Sawyer gave the Sailors a three goal lead as he fired a pass to the front of the net that hit a skate and the puck found it's way behind the Rams goalie.
For the final five minutes the McGee Motors Novice Reps played an amazing defensive game in order to perserve the shutout for Keon, his first of the year and took the game 3-0. Nice job Sailors!!!! Game 2 goes in Mt. Forest on Tuesday March 24th at 6:30.
