Sailors Tie BCH in Regular Season Make Up Game
On the 28th day of February 2015 the McGee Motors Novice Reps hosted the BCH Ice Dogs for a make up game that was cancelled earlier in the regular season.
In the first, both teams fired shot after shot but the Ice Dogs goalie and Keon made great saves keeping their teams in the game, ending the opening frame 0-0.
BCH opened the scoring early in the second period but the Sailors never give up attitude was still evident from the Seaforth series, as Sawyer forced a turnover in the offensive zone and made a quick pass to the front of the net, that Logan picked up and fired a beauty shot, short side for a 1-1 tie.
BCH scored a late second period goal for a 2-1 lead for the visiting team heading to the third.
In the third the Sailors continued to press, and Sawyer found himself on a breakaway, firing a low shot to the blocker side that was stopped, but Mason skating hard to the net found the puck on his stick and fired a backhand into the top of the net for a 2-2 score. The tie did not last long as BCH took the lead back shortly there after, however the Sailors did not quit as Iain scored two late unassisted goals as he battled for the puck and fired great shots past the BCH goalie, giving the Sailors a 4-3 lead with only one minute remaining.
BCH pulled their goalie after winning the centre ice faceoff and with only 29 seconds remaining a loose puck found a wide open Ice Dog player in the slot that was able to sneak one into the Sailors net for a 4-4 tie.
Again these Sailors are battling from the drop of the puck to the sound of the final buzzer and have nothing to hang their heads about as they are taking what they have learned at practice and have been applying it to all facets of the game. Nice job Sailors!!!
