The McGee Motors Novice Reps played two of the best teams in the league over the weekend of Dec 13-14 losing to BCH and Saugeen Shores.
The first game was played in front of a hometown crowd at the Maitland however BCH showed the Sailors from start to finish how to play as a team passing the puck, playing aggressive and firing everything at Keon and Jacob winning the game 11-0. There were few positives that came out of a game like this but Logan moved from defence to forward showed his ability to carry the puck, fired some great wristers on the BCH goalie and back checked hard earning him the coveted helmet as the Hardest Working Player of the Game
The next day the Sailors traveled to Port Elgin to face the Storm. Kael joined the team as we were short and made an immediate first impression as he picked up the puck in the Sailors end beat players to the outside and went in all alone scoring a beauty. Iain also scored in the first with a shot high over the blocker of the Storm goalie, finishing the period tied at 2-2.
The Storm showed why they are one of the best teams in the league as they dominated the second and third winning the game 8-3. The highlight of the final frame was a goal scored by AJ who picked up the puck in his own end and made the Storm players dizzy with a beautiful end to end rush finishing it with a low shot past the home teams tender.
The Hardest Working Player of the Game helmet went to Mason who skated hard end to end and set up some potential scoring opportunities playing one of his first games at centre.
