Sailors Lose Pair Over Weekend
The McGee Motors Novice Reps played two games over the weekend of Dec 5-7 however came up short on both occasions.
The first game the Sailors traveled to Mitchell to play a tough team who has rolled over many teams in the league. The home team went up quick with a 2-0 lead before Sawyer broke loose in the neutral zone beat the lone defenceman and broke in all alone firing a shot over the glove of the goalie cutting the lead to 2-1.
The home team kept coming firing a couple more shots into the Sailors net before Iain went end to end scoring a beauty firing it home after a backhand to forehand deke. The third was more of the same as Mitchell continued to score however Mason closed the gap when he broke down the left side firing a shot low to the stick side cutting the home team lead to 10-3. That's how the game ended and the Hardest Working Player of the Game helmet was given to Devlin who skated hard, showed his aggression in the corners and worked the puck out front for a couple different scoring opportunities.
Two days later the Sailors hosted the Mount Forest Rams who traveled west and handed the Sailors another lose with a 4-1 win. Keon played well in the pipes and Iain scored another highlight real beauty with an assist going to Mason. But it was Ella that broke out being moved to defence due to her skating ability and made some great first passes, played aggressive and earned the Hardest Working Player of the Game helmet.
