Sailors End Silver Stick Tourney on a High!
December 2-3 – South
Huron Silver Stick. Following a couple of tough losses at the beginning of the
tournament to the daunting Mt. Brydges and Lambeth teams, the Sailors came out
fighting in a heart pounding game against the Tavistock Titans. Kyler got the game rocking early with a
beautiful goal less than a minute into the first period (assisted by
Ethan). The rest of the first
period (as well as the second period) presented Goderich with numerous scoring
opportunities, but still ended 1-0 for the Sailors. At the 9 minute mark of the third period Kyler made an awesome set-up to Snowden to put the Sailors ahead 2-0. Nevertheless, the Titans battled back with a goal at the 4:42 mark of the period to make it 2-1.
The heart palpitations continued for the Goderich fans for the next four minutes of the game with close scoring opportunities for both teams, including a breakaway chance by Justin. In the end, the determination and assertive play of all the Sailors right to the last second carried the day and finished the game in a 2-1 victory! Bryson was on fire with Tim Thomas style goaltending throughout the game. The offensive line was hard on the puck for the entire game with superb back checking and passing. The defensive line played an equally commanding style of hockey by holding the blue line and protecting their goalie. Assertive play and team work is the secret to victory – let’s keep it up Sailors!
