Sailors Showdown in St. Marys
November 4-6: Atom
Tournament. The Sailors played a series of tough games at their first
tournament of the season, taking on some of the strongest teams in the
region. With two hard fought
losses against two very formidable teams, Mount Bridges and St. Marys – the
Sailors were on even ground with St. Thomas and Dorchester. In an exciting battle for supremacy,
the Sailors were evenly matched with St. Thomas and secured a 1-1 tie game -
with the one and only goal going to Jordyn (assisted by Caden).
The Sailors fought back from a 2-0 deficit against Dorchester to tie things up with goals by Justin and Snowden (with assists from Scott, Ethan, Jordyn and Lucas). Unfortunately, the over-active imagination of the referees hurt the Sailors’ chances to pull ahead - and ultimately, a very questionable goal by Dorchester ended the game 4-3. All the kids all played well with great offense and superb defense throughout the tournament. Without question, the star player of the entire tournament was Bryson, with amazing 'Tim Thomas style' goaltending that shutdown numerous attempts by the opposing teams. Great work Sailors!
