First Win of the Season!
October 29th -
Goderich Sailors vs. Blyth/Brussels. The Sailors proved the power of hard work and coordinated
team work in their rematch against Blyth/Brussels to land the first win of the
season! Goderich came out fighting
immediately into the game, dominating the play for most of the first
period. At the 5:56 mark of the
period, Ethan scored a beautiful goal with a perfect set-up by Kyler to make it
1-0 Sailors. With 1:06 left on the
clock, Kyler scored the second goal of the game (assisted by Justin) to make it
2-0 for Goderich.
Blyth/Brussels fought back in the second period with a quick goal – and despite a number of great chances by the Sailors’ offensive line, the period ended 2-1. The third period was a barn burner with multiple scoring chances by the Sailors. Blyth/Brussels also had a number of chances, but strong goaltending by Bryson held them off. The Sailors’ defensive line also did a great job fending off attacks by Blyth/Brussels and holding the blue line to keep the play in the opposing end zone. Great coordination and passing by the Sailors’ offensive line led to some nail biter moments for the fans in the last half of the third period with several close scrambles and shots on net. With a minute to go, Blyth/Brussels pulled the goalie and attempted to tie up the game - but great goaltending by Bryson and hard work by the Sailors’ defensive line held them off to secure the win at 2-1. The Sailors showed their prowess and ability to work together as a team. Let’s keep it up Sailors!
