Silver Stick Day 2- The Rematch
Saturday November 19th was day 2 of the Regional Silver Stick for the Kinsmen Pee Wee AE Sailors, and what a day it was. The first game of the day was a quarter-final match against the hometown Twin Centers Stars.

The Sailors jumped out to a 1-0 lead, when Braeden D scooped up a rebound of a Chris G shot, and put it inside the post. Twin Centers tied it up less than a minute later, short handed, but Braeden scored again on a breakaway, unassisted. Twin Centers made it 2-2 with a little over 2 minutes left in the first, but Chris fired home the puck to give the Sailors back the lead. Twin Centers wouldn't give up, and scored their third, before the period ended, making it 3-3 after a period. The Sailors regrouped quickly, and showed speed, passing, and great teamwork to score 8 unanswered goals over the final two periods. Braeden completed the hat trick mid-way through the second, unassisted, followed by Tristan R, unassisted. Ryan L scored the 6th Sailors goal, assisted by Justin L and Mitchell R. Braeden got his fourth of the game, finishing off a passing play from Chris and Kyle. The second period ended 7-3 Sailors. While the bulk of the 3rd period was played in straight time, due to the mercy rule, the boys managed to continue the scoring. Justin L scored 3 times in the third, with assists to Luc A and Mitchell R (x2). Mitchell also scored a goal of his own on a breakaway.
Game 2 was something the boys had been looking forward to since the previous afternoon, a rematch with the Norwich Knighthawks. The Sailors learned from their first encounter, and were not going to be goaded into penalties. Braeden opened the scoring late in the first, assisted by Brady G. Norwich scored with 8 seconds left, to make it 1-1 after the first period. Both teams had chances in the second, but both Tanner M, and the Knighthawk goalie were unbeatable. In the third period, Tristan R scored on the power-play to give the Sailors a 2-1 lead, assisted by Brady and Noah C. A minute later, Braeden scored his second of the game, unassisted, for the eventual winner. With just over a minute left, Norwich pulled their goalie, and were able to score to close the gap to 1 goal, but Braeden completed his hat trick, firing a long shot into the empty net, assisted by Tristan.
There were a lot of excited and proud parents in the stands, as the boys battled hard, and won as a team. Final score 4-2 Sailors. Tomorrow they face the Lincoln Blades in the Silver Stick Regional Finals.
