Kinsmen Sailors Battle Hard
Sunday was gut-check day for the Kinsmen Pee Wee AE Sailors, and while they may have been out-sized, they weren't out-muscled or out-worked. The defense worked hard keeping Tanner protected, and the forwards battled for every inch of the offensive zone. In the end it was a hard-fought 4-3 win over Blyth/Brussels.

Late in the first period, Justin opened the scoring, with assists to Owain and Tristan. Midway through the second period, Blyth/Brussels capitalized on some confusion. No one in the arena was sure of which team was getting the delayed penalty, and after a Sailor had touched the puck, Tanner was called to the bench for an extra attacker. Unfortunately, the Blyth/Brussels defender slid the puck the length of the ice, into the empty net to even the score. A couple minutes later, Blyth/Brussels scored again, to take a 2-1 lead. With 47 seconds remaining in the second period, Owain gained control of Braeden's dump in, and fed a nice pass out to Chris in the slot, and he tied the score at 2-2. After Blyth/Brussels regained the lead early in the third period, Justin scored his second goal of the game, this time assisted by Noah and Dwyer. In the last minute, Blyth/Brussels were caught getting too aggressive, and the Sailors capitalized on the power-play. Justin scored his 3rd of the game, sliding home a rebound off Braeden's shot, to give the Sailors the 4-3 win. The Sailors are on the road for their last 2 regular season games, before starting the new year in Pelham for the International Silver Stick Championships. Their next home game will be January 14th, at the YMCA, during Hockey day in Goderich.
