Kinsmen Sailors Split Games on Silver Stick Day 1
Day 1 of Silver Stick was interesting to say the least. The first a game best forgotten, the second an example of how to bounce back.

Early Friday the boys faced a physical, actually down-right dirty Norwich team. After several minutes of seeing the referees allow Norwich to take liberties with Sailor goalie Tanner M, the boys decided they needed to protect him themselves. Unfortunately, this led to 9 power plays for Norwich, including two 5-on-3 advantages, and one phantom goal. Tanner had to leave the game early, and Liam S replaced him in net. Norwich took advantage of a Sailor player injured behind the Sailor net, due to a hit from behind, to slip a second goal into our net. The game was marred by a nasty Head shot to Brady G, early in the game, that left the Sailors down a defenseman most of the game, and a late uncalled spear that put Owain S into the dressing room early. Both Tanner and Liam played solid in net, and the penalty kill was excellent, to keep the game close, with the uphill battle they faced.
Friday night they were back in St. Clements for game 2, this time against the Aylmer Flames. This game was a much different story, with more control from the referees, the boys were able to concentrate on hockey. Chris G jumped on a Brady G clearing pass, as he exited the penalty box, and scored on a breakaway to give the Sailors a 1-0 lead, midway through the first period. Aylmer tied it up a couple minutes later, on a quick play from a face off. Justin L took a nice pass from Ryan L, and roofed a shot on another breakaway, to give the Sailors a 2-1 lead in the second. The Sailors iced the game in the third, Braeden D tapped in a loose puck, assisted by Mitchell R, to make it 3-1. Chris G scored his second of the game, when Braeden tipped a Kyle L shot to him, shortly after Aylmer had made it 3-2. The final score was 4-2 Sailors.
The boys return to St Clements Saturday for a quarter-final game.
