Kinsmen Pee Wee AE Win Pair
This past weekend, the Kinsmen Pee Wee AE Sailors played host to the Mitchell Meteors AE team, and the Elma Logan Wildcats Rep team. The Sailors battled hard as a team, and came away with a pair of wins.
On Friday November 4th, they hosted the Mitchell Meteors at Maitland Arena. The Meteors opened the scoring late in the first, and held a 1-0 lead after one period. Early in the second, Ryan L lifted a rebound over the Mitchell goalie, assisted by Justin L. Kyle L skated in from the blue line, and went 5-hole to give the Sailors a 2-1 lead at the break.
The Meteors scored early in the third, to tie things up, but Braeden D one-timed a Mitchell R pass into the top of the net, with just over two minutes left, for the eventual winner. Chris G scored an insurance marker a minute later, with an assist to Owain S. Final score was 4-2 for the Sailors.
On Sunday November 6th, the Elma Logan Wildcats were at Memorial Arena, for what ended up being a hard-hitting, physical game. Both teams came out hitting, and due to some nice saves at both ends of the ice, there was no score after the first period. The second period was a different story, as the Sailors scored 6 unanswered goals, to salt the game away. Early in the period, Braeden D was paid off for some hard work in front of the net, firing a rebound in, assisted by Chris G. Two minutes later, Braeden scored again, finishing off a pass from Chris and Dwyer B. Noah C scored a power-play goal, to make it 3-0 Sailors, when he fired in a loose puck from the slot. Justin L then showed his break away skills, speeding in on the Wildcat goalie who was unable to get all off the shot. Braeden completed the hat trick, putting Ryan L's rebound in. With just under a minute left in the second period, Chris G put a rebound by the Elma Logan goalie, assisted by Owain S and Troy P.
Justin scored the only goal of the third period, his second of the game, assisted by Ryan. The Sailors were able to preserve a well-deserved shutout for Tanner M. Tanner made several key saves in the first two periods, allowing the Sailors' offense to warm up. Elma Logan tried all game, but were unable to intimidate the Sailors, who continued to pressure the Wildcat defense. The defense of Dwyer, Troy, Kyle and Brady played two fantastic games, and the offense seems to be gelling.
The next home game for the Kinsmen AE Sailors is Sunday November 27th, at 4:30 pm, at Memorial Arena against the Mitchell Meteors.
