Atom Sailors LL, U11, 2010-2011 (Goderich Minor Hockey)

The guys wrapped up an impressive season with a B Championship victory at the Annual Waterloo Wolves Fun Festival on April 1-3.  The tournament win for the Sailors was a great way to end an already strong 13-5-1 regular season and equally admirable playoffs record.  The team owes their strong season to great coaching that encouraged skills development, fair play and sportsmanship.  Many friendships were forged among the boys during the season, with their comradeship also being a major contributing factor to their success as a team.  Many of the regular season and playoff games kept the fans ...

Feb. 26 (Tiverton Thunder at Goderich Sailors) After a close 2-1 loss to the Tiverton Thunder a week earlier, the rematch proved to be the most exciting game of the playoffs so far!  Alex landed the first goal of the game (assisted by Tyson C.) at the 8:55 mark of the first period.  The formidable Thunder battled back hard and landed 3 quick goals to pull ahead 3-1 going into the second period.  The second period was scoreless, with many close chances for the Sailors and Tiverton.  Kyle made some awesome glove saves to keep the Thunder limited to a 3-1 lead going into the third.  The guys ...

With a strong regular season record, the Sailors were grouped into the top half of the playoffs, matching them up against some of the toughest teams in their division.  The boys battled hard in the first two games against the Seaforth Stars, but even with a valiant effort were unable to secure wins.  The next tense battle with the Tiverton Thunder proved to be a battle of the goalies, with some outstanding goaltending by Tom.  Assisted by Ryan, Alex scored for the Sailors – however, as much as the guys played a great game and pounded away at Tiverton, the first game of this match-up ended in ...

Building on an impressive regular season record of 13-5-1, the boys traveled north on February 19 to win Silver in the A Championship at the annual Pentanguishene Winterama Hockey Tournament.  The Sailors began the tournament with an exciting game against the Elmvale Coyotes.  Alex landed the first goal for Goderich, assisted by Ryan.  Lucas landed 2 more goals for the Sailors, both assisted by Tyson C. to secure the game with a 3-1 victory.  The Sailors then went up against the Penetang Flames with a decisive 9-0 win.  Goals and assists of the second game went to Alex, Tyson C., Ryan, ...
