Bantam Reps Prepare for Playoffs
The Bantam Rep Sailors are getting lots of exhibition games in, in preparation for their upcoming playoff series against Listowel.

On Saturday, January 8, the Sailors met the BCH Ice Dogs in Hensall for another hard-hitting and well fought battle.  It was the Ice Dogs who came out on top this time though.  It was a physical and aggressive game by both sides.  Early on in the first period, a slapshot from the point put BCH on the scoreboard first, 1-0. Taylor Helesic tied it up with his own killer shot just a few minutes later. The Sailors went to work at the end of the first period, scoring two more goals, the first by Mykal Hodges and the second a power play goal by Luke Fraser.  Assists on those goals went to Tyler Moss and Hodges. The Goderich team did some awesome penalty killing in the second period, and unfortunately, a couple of breakaways for our boys didn't pan out. BCH popped one in on a four on four to close the gap, 3-2 Sailors. Later in the second, the Ice Dogs scored a power play goal to tie it up 3-3. The third period was riddled with close calls and crossbar shots, but finally in the last three minutes of the game, the Ice Dogs got the upper hand and scored a short-handed goal and then the empty netter to clinch the 5-3 win.
The Sailors will have to work hard again Friday night, January 14, when they host the Saugeen Shores Storm at the YMCA at 6:30.  Another tough game is in store on Sunday the 16th, against the Mount Brydges Cougars at the Goderich Memorial Arena.  Our boys are working hard and gaining strength and confidence, and that's just what they need as they head into their first playoff series against the Listowel Cyclones, Tuesday evening in Listowel.  You're doing a great job, boys!
