Sailors Finish On Top
The Bantam Rep Sailors met with the Saugeen Shores Storm at the Southampton Coliseum on February 21, and were victorious for the second time.

The Sailors took charge right away, playing a fast-paced yet patient game with the Storm. Net minder Brady Bowman had golden gloves as he made many key saves during the first and subsequent periods. Luke Fraser started off the scoring in the first on a fine pass by Taylor Helesic. The Goderich team drove for the net time and time again, and at 1:31 left in the first, it paid off again as Helesic brought the puck around from the back of the net and wrapped it around and in, 2-0 Goderich. Saugeen Shores managed to score on a breakaway shortly into the second period, narrowing the gap 2-1. That didn't sit well with the Sailors, and Mykal Hodges, fresh off the bench, stormed the net and tucked another one home, making it 3-1. Less than a minute later, Trevor Lockie found Brandon Johnston who racked up another Goderich goal, 4-1. Things could have taken a turn for the worse in the third when a Saugeen player was awarded a penalty shot. But Bowman held his ground between the pipes and triumphed as he stretched out to stop the puck. The Sailor fans erupted in applause in support of Bowman and his efforts. Despite two more Saugeen goals in fairly short order and some very physical play, the Sailors remained determined to keep their cool, stay focused, and win the game. It was 4-3 Goderich in the last minute of play, when Chad Kernighan scored the empty netter to secure the win for his team, 5-3 final score. Very smartly played, boys!!
