Second Shut Out Over the Monarchs
The Bantam Rep Sailors dominated on home ice in their second meeting against the Mildmay Monarchs, on Monday, November 22.

The Sailors were dynamic and smart as they started off the game. Exerting consistent and continual pressure, the Sailors' efforts paid off late in the first period, when Eric MacPhee and Harry Parsons did some adept passing to get the puck up to Steve De Jager, who slid it past the Mildmay goaltender. After that goal, the Monarchs doubled their efforts, but Goderich goalie Brady Bowman kept things under control whenever a scoring attempt was made. The second period was full of hustle for the Sailors, and great teamwork furthered the team's lead to 3-0, as they scored two more goals: the first, at 12:58 by Brandon Johnston, assisted by DJ Stevenson and De Jager, and the second by Stevenson, with assists going to Trevor Lockie and De Jager once again.  In the third period, and after much activity in the Mildmay end, Johnston passed to De Jager who scored his second of the night after his shot was deflected off a Monarch and in, 4-0 Sailors. Bowman made a huge save on a hard close-range shot by one of the Mildmay players, putting a damper on their efforts to put one on the scoreboard. Nearing the end of the third, Taylor Helesic widened the lead to 5-0, as he received the puck from Stevenson and tucked one away.  The Goderich team maintained the pressure till the final buzzer, as Brandon Johnston popped his second of the game in the net with only 29 seconds left, for a 6-0 final score.  Congrats on your accomplishment, boys!  The Sailors will be playing this weekend in the Clinton Optimist Bantam Tournament, where they will face off on Saturday against the Mitchell Meteors at 12:30 pm, and then the St. Mary's Rock at 5:10.  Come cheer on your Sailors!!
