In the WOAA Bantam Women's hockey tournament held in Goderich this past weekend, the hometown Sailorettes were finalists.  On Thursday, at the MRC, were victorious against Kincardine.     Aggressive defensive work from Jacqueline Martin and Kate-Lynn Skinner helped goaltender Jessica Yates keep Kincardine scoreless in regulation play. It took two periods of overtime and 9 shooters before Holly Ryan scored the game winning goal.  Ali Frayne scored the other Goderich goal to lift the Sailorettes to a 2-1 win.
On Saturday afternoon at Memorial Arena, the Sailorettes handily beat Keady 4-0.  The Sailorettes dominated the play for the enitre game. Michelle Kelly opened the Goderich scoring in the second period with an assist from Frayne. Seconds later, Jordan McWhinney lifted one into the net with excellent teamwork from Shayla Mathers and Jaden Mitchell.
In the third period, Aja Hogan-Cann continued the Goderich scoring streak with a goal assisted by McWhinney and Ryan. Frayne rounded out the Goderich scoring with assists from Brooke Guikema and Kelsa Curran.  Yates earned a well-deserved shut out.
The Sunday semi-finals were a real nail biter as Goderich edged Saugeen Shores 3-2 in the last seconds of the final period of sudden death overtime.  Emily Gordon scored the first and last game winning goals.  The other Goderich goal was scored by Frayne with assists from Taylor Pritchard and Guikema.  Holly Ryan assisted Gordon's game ending goal.
