In South Huron on Sunday,the Bantam Sailorettes fought South Huron to a 1-1 tie in the first game of the play-off season. Although no goals were scored in the first two periods, excellent offensive work by Ali Frayne and Emily Gordon kept the pressure on the South Huron defense. Shayla Mathers and Jayme Austin also worked hard around the South Huron net to score the Sailorette's first goal.
South Huron scored the first goal of the game early in the third period. It was the spark needed for the Sailorettes to battle back late in the third period to tie the game. Michelle Kelly's persistence paid off as she scored the Goderich goal on an assist from Holly Ryan.
Jaden Mitchell and Brooke Guikema kept up a good defence which kept netminder Jessica Yates well protected.
