After suffering a quick exit to the Silver Stick over the holidays with a win and two losses the McDonald’s Novice Rep bounced back to win their first two games of the New Year. On Saturday Jan. 5th the team traveled to Walkerton to face the Hawks in their last meeting of the regular season.
With a short bench the team came out and played a great game with Goderich getting on the board at 8:44 of the first period. Goderich would go on to score three more unanswered goals for a final score of 4 – 0. Liam Shore got the shutout for Goderich with scoring going to Nate Helesic, Megan Johnston, Trent Buchanan and Kyle Larkin with assists going to Nate Helesic (2), Bayden Parent, Kyle Larkin, Trent Buchanan, Carston Gardiner, Ashley Bakker and Liam Shore.
On Sunday Jan.6th the McDonald’s Novice Rep faced Saugeen Shores in an exhibition game at the Goderich Memorial Arena. The game started off evenly matched with no scoring until 2:48 of the first when Goderich got on the board. It didn’t take long in the second for Saugeen to answer back tying it up but the Sailors took the lead back a minute later and went on to score four more with Saugeen only able to answer back once for a final score Goderich 6 Saugeen Shores 2. Again great goaltending from Liam Shore and a full team effort reflected on the score sheet. Scoring for Goderich was Nate Helesic (2), Kyle Larkin, Trent Buchanan, Kody Ritchie and Ashley Bakker with assists going to Nate Helesic (2), Megan Johnston, Jack Morris, Bayden Parent and Kyle Larkin
