The McDonald’s Novice Rep rapped up there pre-Christmas schedule with a regular season record of 11 – 4 - 0 and a total season record of 17 – 6 – 0. On Sunday Dec.14th the Sailors faced off against Saugeen Shore for the third time of the season. The first period saw little action until the final minutes with Goderich scoring two to go into the second with the lead. In the second Saugeen came out with an early goal but Goderich answered back with three more. Saugeen would get on the board with one more to end the period ending the scoring until midway through the third. Then the Sailors unloaded scoring five more times with Saugeen answering back only twice to end the game with a final score of 10 – 4. Scoring for the Sailors were Ben Derrough (6), Nate Helesic (3), and Darren Lockie (1) assists went to Ashley Bakker (3), Kyle Larkin (3), Megan Johnston (2) and singles to Kody Ritchie and Ben Derrough.
Friday Dec. 21st the McDonald’s Novice Rep hosted the Kincardine Flyers also for the third meeting of the season. The game started with the Sailors coming out slow and the Flyers playing a tough game keeping both teams off the scoreboard until midway through the second period. The Sailors then came alive scoring thirteen unanswered goals throughout the game to win 13 – 0. A great game was played by all with great goaltending and the shutout going to Liam Shore also an excellent game both defence and offence. Scoring for the Sailors were Nate Helesic (5), Megan Johnston (3), Ben Derrough (2), Darren Lockie (2) and Kyle Larkin (1) with assists going to Nate Helesic (3), Bayden Parent (2), and Cameron Brenner, Kody Ritchie, Trent Buchanan, Kyle Larkin, Ben Derrough all with Singles.
