McDonald’s Novice Rep Drops Two Over Weekend
On Saturday Oct. 27 the McDonald’s Novice Rep traveled to Mitchell for their first road game of the season. Mitchell started the scoring early in the first with Goderich answering back 2 minutes later. Goderich got the only goal in the second to take the lead.
The third started with a quick goal by Mitchell to tie it up but it was short lived with Goderich answering back 24 seconds later to again take the lead. Mitchell did not give up and came on strong scoring two late period goals to win the game 4–3. Solid goaltending by Liam Shore went a long way to keep Goderich in the game.
Scoring for Goderich went to Ben Derrough (2), Nate Helesic (1) with assists going to Nicholas Peer, Ben Derrough, Kody Ritchie and Troy Peters.
On Sunday Oct. 28 the McDonald’s Novice Rep hosted Listowel for their first meeting of the season. Listowel got off to a strong start coming up with three goals. Late in the second and early in the third Goderich unshaken by Listowel’s lead came back strong scoring four times to put them in the lead. But with three minutes remaining Listowel notched two more goals to take the win 5 – 4.
Scoring for Goderich were Nate Helesic (1), Ben Derrough (1), Bayden Parent (1), Megan Johnston (1) with assists going to Ben Derrough, Kody Ritchie and Nicholas Peer. Goderich showed great teamwork and unwillingness to give up coming from a three goal deficit out shooting and out playing Listowel only to come up short. GREAT EFFORT TEAM.
