Right from the outset of the season it was
clear that we had a group of boys and coaches that would come together and have
the winning dynamic to make for a fun and successful year – and so it was, as
they capped off a stellar 2015/16 season with a well-deserved Championship at
the Oshawa March Classic and an impressive 30-12-4 overall record.

The Sailors finished their regular season
with a decisive 7-1 win against the Mitchell Meteors and a solid 19-7-2
record. The last number of
games and victories have been a clear demonstration of all the boys taking
their play to the next level and coming together as a team. The guys also had an impressive showing
at the local Goderich tournament after Christmas, placing second out of 6
teams. Currently sitting as one of
the top teams in the South Bantam Division, the Sailors are well-positioned
going into playoffs later this month.

November 19th – Goderich at BCH. The boys all played an
outstanding game on Thursday evening, working hard from the first to last
second of the game and never letting down their guard once. The superb passing by our offensive
lines and solid defending by our defensemen (and Mike in net) paid off against
the determined BCH Ice Dogs. The
BCH goalie was a wall and held off the multiple attacks and shots from the
Sailors in the first period.

November 12th – Minto at Goderich. The boys are off to a solid
start to their season with a 6-3-0 record, putting them third in the South
Bantam Division - and nipping at the heals of the first and second place teams. After a couple of close and tough loses
resulting from some bad luck with goals being waived off and an untimely game
curfew, the Sailors rebounded back with a decisive 7-0 win over the Minto Mad
Dogs. Goals of the game went to
Carter, Ethan (2), Justin (2), Logan, and Caden, all resulting from some
excellent passing and teamwork.
Mike was solid in net and the strong play of Adrien, Rory, Curtis and
Kylen on defense kept the Mad Dogs at bay for most of the game. Keep up the hard work boys! Go Sailors Go!

October 10th - Goderich at Elma-Logan. After a 5-2 win in an
exhibition game against BCH on October 4th, the Sailors traveled to
Monkton on October 10th for their season opener against the
Elma-Logan Wildcats. The Sailors
and the Wildcats appeared to be evenly matched, but Goderich was first on the
scoreboard with two nicely executed first period goals by Ethan and Caden off
assists from Kylen, Justin and Rory.
Ethan tipped-in his second goal half-way through the second period off a
nice shot from the point by Adrian after a pass from Carter.
