OMHA Finals #2- Wake Up Call
On Friday March 21st the Marcc Apparel Bantam AE Sailors hosted the Iderton Jets in game 2 of the OMHA Finals. After a hard fought 4-2 win in the opener, the boys were eager to imress  the vocal home crowd.

Unfortunately they just didn't have their legs. Just three and a half minutes into the game, they were caught scrambling in their own end, and found themselves down a goal. Tanner stood strong in the Sailors net, making several saves, to allow the period to end with the Jets up 1-0. The boys hemmed the Jets in their own end for two minutes straight, but couldn't find the net.
A minute into the second period, Alex won a faceoff to Kody, who made no mistake, firing a snapshot over the Jets goalie's glove and into the top corner, to tie the score. The Sailors got caught flatfooted and Ilderton regained the lead with five minutes left in the second period. Shortly after the Sailors started a parade to the penalty box, and Ilderton extended their lead to 3-1 with a power play goal. With two and a half minutes left in the second, Justin's hard work paid off, he battled with the Jets defender, for Brady's pass, turned and fired a shot over the Jets goalie to cut the lead to a single goal. Just 26 seconds later, Justin passed the puck to Braeden in the neutral zone, and Braeden dangled the defender, came in wide on the goalie, and beat him low to the far side to tie the game. The Sailors appeared to have the momentum, and a new jump. However, sixteen seconds later, the defense got their signals crossed on a Jets dump in, and their forward scored on a wrap-around to put the Sailors behind again. The second period ended 4-3 Ilderton.
The third period was the Sailors losing discipline and the Jets scoring two more power play goals. The Sailors just couldn't find any offensive flow in the third period, and the Jets came away with a 6-3 win. The boys were disappointed they couldn't put on a better show for the many supportive fans at the Maitland Recreational Centre. The Sailors will get it back together Monday March 24th, when they face the Jets in Ilderton. Their next home game is Tuesday March 25th, at 9pm, at the YMCA, when they host Ilderton in game 4 of the OMHA finals.
