Bantam AE Through First Round
After winning game one of the first round of OMHA playoffs the Bantam AE Sailors hosted the Saugeen Storm for game two on Jan.19th at the MRC.

Game two of the 4 point series would turn out to be a game to remember for both Teams. The Sailors started the game off with a goal midway through the first and then notching another early in the second taking a 2-0 lead. However, Saugeen being considered the underdog would Storm back to score four unanswered goals before the end of the second period. Between periods with some motivational coaching the Sailors would come out and tie the game up in the first five minutes of the third. But again the Sailors stopped skating letting the Storm right back into the game allowing them to score with eight minutes left to play. The sailors could not find their composure again and took the loss 5-4 to tie the series at one.

Game three would be a hard game to play, being weather delayed three times it would finally go off on Thursday Jan. 24th. Again the underdog Storm would come out on fire but this time was met by a Sailors Team up for the task. The Sailors would be first on the board midway through the period but again the Storm would not give up evening the score with just 24 seconds remaining in the period. The second would start out fast and hard like the first with hard hitting and end to end action. The Sailors however would again get on the board taking the lead back. The storm would not let up and again tied the game up just 2 minutes later having everyone on the edge of their seats. With less than a minute to play in the period the Sailors would get the go ahead goal once again to lead into the third. The start of the third would get underway with both teams knowing it was do or die. The Sailors again played hard and smart getting the next goal at 5 minutes in to take a 4 – 2 lead. The hard pressing Storm would not let up and either would the Sailors but half way through the period the Storm would get one to lessen the lead to one putting everyone back on the edge of their seats. With great goaltending, good defensive and offensive pressure for the remainder of the game the Team would weather the Storm’s push to tie it up. That would end the game and the series with the win.

The Sailors now move to the second round of the OMHA playoffs against Listowel with the first Home game Feb.3rd. Come out and see a great series between these two teams with a record through regular season against each other of 2 wins a piece and a tie. Should be a great series and best of luck to the Team.
