Regular Season Wraps Up
The L.H. Jenkins Bantam AE Team finished up their regular season Saturday, Jan.12th with an exhibition game against Listowel that would lead to the 5th win in a row by the team. The team had a solid season ending regular play with a 17-10-4 record. In mid November the team also went on through a tough group of teams to come out tournament champs in Tillsonburg. Even with a high amount of injuries throughout the season the team has stuck together and fought hard for the record they show.
The teams rest however wouldn’t last long starting the first play-off round on Sunday the 13th against the Saugeen Storm. The team traveled to Port Elgin short two players from injuries in the previous game. Thanks to the AP’s we could however go with an almost full bench. The Storm came out fighting hard throughout the first period but Goderich would notch two before it was over. The sailors came out firing and scored in the first minute of the second and then again near the end of the period, going into the third with a 4-0 lead the Sailors came right back with another in the first minute of the period. It wasn’t until midway through the period when the Storm would finally get on the board, that would end the scoring and the Sailors taking the game 5-1. Great Goaltending and Teamwork Boys!! Come out Saturday, Jan.19th @ 3 pm to the MRC to see Game 2 of the series and cheer the Team to win and make it to the next round.
