Commanding Comeback Against the Hawks!
January 13 – Mitchell
Hawks at Goderich Sailors. The Sailors were seeking redemption against Mitchell after a
defeat on the Hawks’ home ice on December 30th. Despite their own home ice advantage, the boys got behind
3-0 in the first period and first half of the second period. At the half way mark of the game, the Sailors came to life and David
fought hard to land the first goal for Goderich on an assist from Braeden. Less than two minutes later, Alex
got a nice wrist shot goal to close the gap to 3-2 (assisted by Justin and
Snowden). Mitchell battled back
and answered Alex’s goal to once again secure a two goal lead.
All the boys sprang to life in the last half of the second period with 2 more beautiful goals by Alex (a ‘natural hat trick’ with 3 in a row) on assists from Tristan, Logan and Christian. The resulting 4-4 tie proved to be the TSN turning point for Goderich who came back after the intermission and dominated the third period. At the 10 minute mark of the period, Nathan made a pass to Tristan who broke through 3 Mitchell players on a breakaway and landed the game winning goal on a beautiful deke! For the rest of the period, the Sailors defensive lines repelled the Hawks, along with some superb back checking by the forward lines. Tom was also a force to be reckoned with in net for the entire third period, stopping a number of Mitchell shots. Way to work and never give up Sailors!
