What a Series!!
The Goderich Sailorettes Peewee A team have found themselves on the winning end of the first two league playoff series.
Round 1 saw the girls matched up against the Bluewater Hawks. The girls would take the series in 2 straight games with wins of 4-0 and 3-0.
Round 2 had the girls matched up against the Stratford Aces. A team the Sailorettes have mirrored all season with each team having almost exactly the same records. Game 1 was played in Stratford on Wed Feb 24. To no one's surprise, the game ended in a 0-0 tie. Game 2 was played in Goderich on Thurs Feb 25. The Sailorettes skated to a 2-0 victory. Game 3 was played in Stratford on Sunday Feb 27. After regular time, the Aces were ahead 3-1, giving them 3 points to tie the Sailorettes. A 5 min SD OT period was played. No score. The game would go to a shoot-out and the Sailorettes would sneak out the win 1-0, giving them 4 points and the series.
The girls will now await the winner of the Chatham-Sarnia series for the final round of playoffs, with the winner of the finals having the right to attend Championship Weekend.
The girls are also busy with OWHA playdowns...against the Stratford Aces. This 3/5 series will surely be similar to all the other meetings these two teams have had this season as both teams are very evenly matched.
