Midget girls take top spot at the Saugeen Regional Sliverstick Tournament last weekend
Goderich Huronia Midgets showed strong progressive play this weekend going undefeated in 5 games. In a division of 12 teams their first victim was Seaforth downing the determined squad 3-2. Next was Tiverton and a 3-1 victory in their home arena. St Marys was next on the menu in a very close game and an empty netter to finish them off 2 to 0.
This ended the round robin with Goderich at the top of their group and advancing to the semi finals against Ingersol.
With a comfortable 3-0 win it was off to the finals and a match up with a very strong Parkhill team. With a lot of back and forth play Goderich had several chances but could not put the puck past the incredible Parkhill goal tending. The 3rd period ended in a 0-0 tie and the teams readied themselves for overtime. With in the first couple of minutes Goderich ended the game with a beautiful 2 on 0 breakout goal pulling the Parkhill netminder out of position and clinching the tournament title.
