Goderich Midgets take Silver in Brampton
The Midget Sailorettes traveled to Brampton on Easter weekend to compete in Worlds largest girls hockey tournament with over 428 teams entered to do battle. In a slow start we tied Wilmount 2-2 then picked up the pace with a 4-0 win over Scarborough. Saturday saw a 5-1 win over Aurora ending the round robin with Goderich at the top in their pool. In quarter final action the midgets downed Waterloo 2-0 sending Goderich to the semi final against Brockville where the girls exploded with a 6-2 victory. This set the stage for the finals Sunday afternoon against an undefeated Smooth Rock Falls. In a fast physical game Smooth Rock scored 1 unanswered goal to give them the win despite swarming their end and the goalie with shots. The girls played an incredible tournament and should be very proud of their Silver medals.
