Round One Playoffs
The Elevator Bantam Rep Sailors started their playoffs with a series against Mitchell. Game one was a very close game going all the way to overtime. Mitchell opened the scoring midway through the first period. Goderich responded with Sam Feagan making an end to end rush and scoring unassisted. Mitchell answered back with another in the first. Nick Elliott, from Joe Whitely, countered for Goderich with the tying goal late in the first. In the second Elliott would assist Josh Whitely with netting the go ahead goal. A hard fought battle saw the Sailors hang on to their lead until four minutes left in the third when Mitchell would tie it up. In net, Jaden Shrier turned back a number of Mitchell attempts late to avoid overtime but they couldn’t beat him and O/T it was. Goderich had their first chance early in OT with Philip Wick-Munroe just missing. Both teams played strong defensive hockey but it was Mitchell who broke the barrier, with less than 5 minutes left, to win 4-3. Game two was just as close with Josh Whitely, from Jared Little, opening the scoring in the first. Things were back and forth with Mitchell answering with 30 seconds left in period 1. Mitchell scored the next one five minutes into the second period and that would be all they needed. Both teams tried to put the puck in the net numerous times after that but it was not to be as both goalies stood tall during back and forth hockey. Game three was a different story. Mitchell scored fifteen seconds into the first period and the Sailors never seemed to recover. Mitchell would score four more times in the first period . Despite their best efforts, and a second period goal by Josh Whitely, Goderich couldn’t mount a comeback and the game finished with a 7-1 score and a series victory for Mitchell.  The defensive pairings of Kernighan, Brunk, Little & McGee were kept very busy in all 3 games. The bantams will now wait to find out who there next opponent will be, and prepare themselves for
