Atom LL dominate BCH Ice Dogs
The boys were excited to play the BCH Ice Dogs at home on Friday
night. Coming off their first winning streak of the season they were
determined to increase it to 3 games in a row.
The Sailors came out on the attack and, despite dominating the first period offensively, they found themselves down 1 – 0 at the beginning of the 2
nd. They quickly settled in though and tied the game up with a goal by Owain Sykes late in the 2
nd on assists from Ryan Lynch and Lucas Sykes.
Going into the 3rd tied 1 – 1, the boys spirits were up and they broke the deadlock early in the period when Christian Pritchard assisted on a goal by Owain Sykes. Noah Smith added to the lead on a penalty shot after being hauled down on his third breakaway of the game. Some great defensive play in the 3rd held off charges by the Ice Dogs and Kyle Prouse made some brilliant saves between the pipes.
The Sailors sealed the win when Mitchell Brewster and Tristen Russelo made a text-book drive feeding the puck to Owain Sykes who scored his 3rd to complete the hat-trick. It became tense late in the third when the boys found themselves down two men due to back-to-back penalties. They showed just how tight they have become defensively by pinning the Ice Dogs in their own end for most of the penalty kill, preventing them from attempting a comeback.
