Sailors Come Out of the Hornets' Nest With a Shutout!
In their opening regular season game, the PeeWee Kinsmen added another win to their 3 game pre-season winning streak, with another high scoring affair in Howick.   Similar to the 11-2 game in Ripley last week that saw scoring by 7 different Sailors, 5 members of the Goderich offensive lines put one or more pucks in the Hornets' net during this 10-0 game.

Luke opened the scoring at 8:02 grabbing the puck at the blue line and putting the up close wrist shot in the net. Howick's defence played hard and aggressive and the Sailors had to work together to find the net. At 2:14 Aiden put a trademark from behind the net pass onto Luke's waiting stick out front and #15 had his 2nd goal of the night. Closing the 1st period scoring at 1:32, Owen and Nick charged the net with Nick skating wide to the left and put the pass across to Owen on the open side whose quick hands popped it in. The 2nd period opened with Eric coming up with the puck in the corner and Nick putting his centring pass up high past the Howick goalie at 9:32. The Sailors controlled the puck through much of the 2nd, but the Howick defence played well and thwarted many Goderich attempts clearing the puck.

The lop sided score was as much due to two great Goderich defensive lines keeping Howick from putting an offensive rush together. Wade and Alex had great speed getting back and skillfully taking the puck away from the forward lines. Adam's and Kate's reach and aggressive side rushes anchored the Sailor defence.

Late in the 2nd the Sailors kicked it up, and at 3:04 Eric passed to Nick whose wrist found the net. Owen swiped the puck behind the blue line and got off a bouncing shot that found the net. Aiden picked up Kaden's pass off the boards and put a long hard wrist in the top corner on the short side with 9.9 seconds left to end the 2nd.

The 3rd opened with Owen on the 2 man break making the smart pass across the net to Eric on the open side for his 1st of a two goal night. Eric's 2nd goal came a minute ten later this time on the two man break with Nick who skated just wide to the left and again put the pass across to Eric on the open side. The Sailors seemed to tire and lose their edge now as the Howick offenders turned it up for the last 10 minutes of the 3rd. Ben had his chance now to show the teams depth and made several great saves to earn the shutout. With 1 second on the clock Nick decided he wanted the hat trick and skated behind the net wrapping around and slipping the puck in between the goaltender and the post to end the game. A great team effort!

The boys are back in action next on Sunday November 1st at the Memorial Arena at 4:10 versus the Goderich Scotiabank LL2 Sailors. Come out and cheer them on!
