Mainstreet Sailors Continue to Improve as Regular Season Winds Down.
It has been a hectic few weeks for the Atom Mainstreet Rep team (1-13-0) beginning with the Wingham Silver stick, then three games against BCH, a trip to Buffalo to watch the Sabres and Blackhawks and ending with a game against the Listowel Cyclones.

The Goderich Sailors began the most recent stretch with three games in the Wingham Silverstick Tournament. The Sailors played their preliminary round games in the Atom B, Division 3 South Huron, Kincardine and Saugeen Shores.  Division 3 sent two teams to the finals out of the 12 teams in Atom B. Kincardine won the B Championship over BCH and Saugeen Shores won over Hanover for a third place finish.

The Sailors played the BCH IceDogs (10-4-0) three times in less than a week losing all three outings 7-0, 6-1 and 6-3. The Sailors played well for stretches in the three games, but could not hold off the Icedogs. The Sailors continue to improve despite the losses.

The Sailors played back to back games against the BCH Icedogs on December 11th and 12th. On Friday night the Sailors and Icedogs played at the Maitland Recreation Centre.  The Sailors gave up the early lead and could not generate any offence in a 7-0 loss.

Saturday`s 6-1 loss to BCH was one of the best games of the year for the Sailors.  The Sailors and Icedogs battled at the Central Huron Community Centre in Clinton to a scoreless draw over two periods. The game slipped away for the Sailors in the third period with the Icedogs scoring six goals.  The Sailors answered with a lone goal from Gryffin.

Thursday night`s game against the Icedogs was also at the Central Huron Community Centre.  Despite falling behind, the Sailors tried disparately to make a comeback scoring three times to cut the BCH lead to 6-3. The Sailors trailed 4-0 before Justin opened the scoring for the Sailors late in the second period on a rebound from a shot by Iain.

Early in the third period Gryffin cut the lead to 4-2 on a rebound from a shot by Wesley.  The Icedogs answered back with a goal to restore their three goal lead.  BCH added another goal, but Goderich scored a minute later to make the score 6-3.

On December 20th the Sailors played an away game against the Listowel Cyclones (11-2-1) who are currently second in Division 1.  A shaky first period left the Sailors down 6-0 and unable to mount a comeback in the 8-1 loss to the Cyclones.  Iain scored the only goal for the Sailors early in the third period.

The regular season is winding to a close with the Sailors having two games remaining over the holiday season. To close out 2015, the Sailors play an away game in Seaforth against the Stars (2-10-1) on December 27th. They start the New Year on January 3rd with their final game of the season in Kincardine against the Division 1 leading Kinucks (14-0-1).
