ScotiaBank PeeWee Sailors open their Playoff season with a Pair of Wins
The PeeWee ScotiaBank LL visited the Howick Hornets on Monday February 23rd and the Ripley Wolves on Wednesday February 25th coming home with 4 points and Playoff fever.

The 1st period opened in Howick with both teams playing hard back and forth. The Sailors generated many opportunities but couldn't seem to find the net. Adam called up to help out put the opening goal on the score board with a snipe shot from the point at 4:24. The goal Energized the Sailors and Remi and Jack found their stride and put 3 quick similar goals on the board at 3:15 2:11 and 1:45. Jack passed accross the net to Remi who top shelfed it. The hornets answered back at 2:22 ending the period 4-1 Goderich. Aiden who defined the word hustle with his play during this game opened scoring in the 2nd at 13:24 digging at the net with the assist going to Kaden. Remi and Jack put another cross net goal together at 8:54 Remi's 4th of the night and Jacks 4th of a 5 assist night. At 8:02 Kaden passed the puck from behind the net out front and the Howick Defensman slapping at it trying to clear the puck put it in his own net. The Sailors with the exception of #14, in what was been a bad trend all season got tired mid 2nd period slowing down and allowed the Hornets to strike twice at 6:35 and 3:46. #14, Aiden put one in the net with an assist from Kaden at 2:10 but the ref called no goal ruling it had been kicked in the net by Kaden who was standing behind Aiden at the time, ending the period 7-3 Sailors. With some energy back after the flood Kaden passed up to Evan who put a nice wrist shot in at 13:10. Aiden stole the puck mid ice and skated it in taking the difficult shot from the wide angle putting it behind the goalies back at 7:30. The Hornets answered back at 4:49 but Joey getting it back quick at 4:11 with Jacks help and 5th assist. Howick had the final Goal of the night at 2:10 the Sailors taking a 10-5 victory home to open their playoff season.

The Boys took on the Wolves in Ripley and they took the coaches pre-game advice to heart, Hustle like #14 did last game and you can win this. The two teams both came out playing hard and fast, The Sailors dominated play keeping the puck in the Ripley end out shooting them by a 3-1 margin but the puck wouldn't go in and Ripley scored the 1st  2 goals, a funny bouncer off the post at 9:09 and off a break away at 5:43. The Sailors came back from the 2 goal deficit the 1st of 3 times during the night, Evan scoring with a pass up from Kaden at 1:09 and Remi at 10:27 of the 2nd unassisted with the long wrist shot. Ripley answered back 7 seconds later at 10:20 then again at 9:54 with break aways off the face off and the Sailors were down by 2 again. Nick skated it in unassisted for his 1st of a 4 goal night at 8:26  then Joe found the net with a smart pass up from Remi at 7:59 and it was 4 all. Ripley scored again at 3:15 but Nick this time with Evan and Remi's assistance answered back quick at 3:05 ending the 2nd period of this exciting back and forth battle 5-5. The Sailors came out in the 3rd on a mission. They again dominated the play the defense doing a great job of clearing the puck from our end up to the forwards and keeping it in the Ripley zone. With 7 un-answered shots on goal before finally flexing the mesh at 10:53 Jack digging hard at the net to put it in with an assist from Remi. Nick scored  his 3rd and 4th at 10:00 and 8:28 with assists from Kaden and Aiden respectively and it was 8-5 Sailors. Jack Scored the final Sailor goal his 2nd of the night with Evans help at 6:56, 9-5 Sailors. Ripley played hard but were looking tired their Star player who had a 4 goal 5 point night and key line on the ice almost continuously for the 3rd period. Playing hard she scored at 5:14 cutting the Goderich lead to 3. The Teams then traded a pair of late penalties and played scoreless 4 on 4. With  a minute forty to go Ripley pulled their Goal tender. Goderich hit the posts of the open net 3 times. With seconds to go and a face off in the Goderich end the 6 Wolves managed one more goal with 3.1 seconds on the clock but it was not enough and the Sailors arms went up in Victory the final 9-7.

Great work boys!  The team was playing to its potential tonight dominating play, clearing and keeping the puck in and outshooting Ripley 35 to 15, the key word in the playoffs, "Hustle" and you could win it all.
