Atom Hyundai AE's Neilson Cup Action
The Sailors took on the Listowel Cyclones this weekend in Neilson Cup action. The Sailors had been shutout by the Cyclones in their previous game.
The Sailors’ only penalty of the game came midway through the first period. Wesley was called for slashing sending them to the penalty kill. Goderich was successful in killing off the penalty and continued to attack. They opened the scoring with 26 seconds remaining in the period on a goal by Jordan assisted by Kaelan Erb. However, the Cyclones tied the game only 10 seconds later.

The Cyclones continued their momentum in the second period scoring two more quick goals early to take a 3-1 lead. The teams traded chances in the period, but the period ended with the score 3-1.
The Sailors continued to work hard in the Third period to get on the scoresheet. Late in the period they had a powerplay opportunity with a Listowel player being called for body contact. The Sailors had their chances, but could not capitalise. With a minute and a half left in the game, the Sailors pulled their goalie for the extra attacker. Again the boys had their opportunities, but could not beat the Listowel netminder.
The boys played a strong game, but were not rewarded with the win. Both goalies played well with Kellen closing out the game without allowing a goal. The forward lines worked hard getting the puck to the net and the defensive pairing did well keeping the Listowel players in check.
Next up for the Sailors is the final game of round robin play in the Neilson Cup. The Sailors play an away game against the Hanover Falcons.
