Final WOAA Game
On Wednesday March 5th the Marcc Apparel Bantam AE Sailors hosted the Elma Logan Wildcats in the final WOAA Gregg Division Round Robin game.
With three and half minutes remaining in the first period, Noah won the battle at the Sailor blue line. Braeden raced up the ice with the loose puck, dangled the defender, and beat the Wildcat goalie with a shot just inside the far post. A minute later, the Wildcats found themselves on their first of many power plays, and beat Tanner on a rebound to tie the game up. The first period ended 1-1.
The second period proved to be good penalty killing practice for the Sailors, being called for 16 minutes in penalties in the 15 minute period. The Sailors penalty killers, and some great goaltending from Tanner, kept the Wildcats at bay, and the second period ended with the same 1-1 score.
The Sailors came out revitalized in the third period, and put pressure on the Wildcat defense. After several scoring chances, Justin gathered in his own rebound and put the Sailors ahead for good. The Sailors continued to fore check the Wildcats, and kept them in their own end for most of the final two minutes. This ended the WOAA playoffs for the Sailors, who finished second in their pool, and don't advance. The boys can now concentrate on the OMHA finals.
