Lions Peewee Rep Update. Some Wins, Some Losses, and Some Ties….
The team has been very active and continues to find their groove playing together as a team. The team has been strong on defense, our offense has created lots of opportunities, and Bryson and Jacob have been strong between the pipes.

On Nov 18th we travelled to Clinton to face off against the BCH Ice Dogs. A few of our key players were down for the count due to illness and we were fortunate to have Logan C and Carter B join our squad to fill our bench. BCH scored the first goal late in the 2nd to put us down 1-0 going into the 3rd. The 3rd period we quickly found ourselves down by 2 with a BCH goal scored in the first minute of play. The Sailors didn’t give up and answered back with a power play goal scored by Carter assisted by Mark to even up the odds. Carter was able to get another past the netminder to tie up the game 2-2. Despite pulling out all the stops in the final minutes of play. The final score would remain in a tie.

We hosted the Mitchell squad the next night at home. Sailors played hard as a team against the top team in the division but fell short with a 2-0 loss.

Nov 26th we hosted Walkerton. The first period Justin assisted by Ethan H and Mark put us up by 1. Second period, David assisted by Justin strengthened our lead going into the 3rd. Our final goal of the game was in the 3rd period with James and Carter working together to get past the netminder. Sailors, slowed down a little and gave up a late goal to Walkerton to make the final a 3-1 win for the Sailors.

Another busy week found us travelling to Kincardine on Nov 28th. After the first period the score remained scoreless. In the second period things heated up. With the Sailors getting on the scoreboard with a beauty of a goal by David assisted by Kyler. However, Kincardine would answer back minutes later with a goal. Sailors poured it on again and Tyler assisted by Caden put us back up by one only to be answered back a minute later by the Kincardine offense. James assisted by David and Carter answered back to tie up the game at 3 with one minute left to play in the second. With only 7 seconds left Kincardine rebounded to put us down by one going into the 3rd. The 3rd period was a hard fought battle by both teams. With only 2 minutes left in the game, David assisted by Dmitri and Kyler tied up the game. Final score 4-4.

Dec 3rd we hosted the Listowel squad - The Sailors came out flying, Kyler got the Sailors on the board a little over a minute into the game with an assist going to Ethan B. The Sailors dominated the next 7 minutes but could not score. Listowel got a break when a puck was redirected off a skate of a Sailors hard working back checker and passed Jacob to tie the game. Before the end of the period Listowel had add two more goals to make it 3-1 at the end of the First period. Listowel added another in the second. The Sailors were down 4-1 at the break. The Sailors came out flying again in the third, Dmitri finished off a pass from David cutting the lead to 4-2 with 13 minutes to play the boys dug deep but could not get another goal pass Listowels goalie. Listowel sealed the game at 3:43 of the third scoring their 5 goal of the game. Sailors lost 5-2

We travelled to Mitchell on Dec 7th. Sailors played a strong hockey game against the number one team in our division. We held off Mitchell until the end of the 1st and in the 2nd period by a great defensive play by Tyler we found ourselves with an interesting penalty which included a penalty shot which Bryson held firm to find Tyler also serving a 2 minute penalty. Sailors finding themselves short-handed were a little rattled and Mitchell scored their 2nd goal. The 3rd period the Sailors seemed to give up hope and the final score resulted in a 4-0 loss.

The next day we headed off to Port Elgin to face off against the Saugeen Shores team. Sailor played a dominating game against Saugeen. First period, Mark assisted by James and Carter both times put us up by 2. In the second, James assisted by Carter and Mark found us up with a commanding 3-0 lead going into the 3rd. Sailors continued to have a strong offensive game with an early goal by James assisted by Tyler. Ethan H and Kyler would work hard and notched another goal for us and Justin assisted by Tyler and Kyler would give us the commanding 6-0 win. Our defense, Kyle, Tyler, and played a strong defensive game to help Jacob get the shut out.

Dec 10th we hosted the BCH squad. Sailors and BCH both came out flying with an action packed back and forth game. With only 40 seconds left in the first, David assisted by Ethan B put us on the score board. BCH answered back with less than 5 seconds of play to tie up the game going into the 2nd. The 2nd period both teams battled hard and Bryson made amazing saves to keep the game tied. The 3rd period Tyler and Mark put us by 1 early into the 3rd. BCH managed to tie up the game and then put us behind with only 3 minutes left.  Sailors showing all season that they don’t give up continued to battle hard and with 2 minutes left James assisted by Mark and Carter tied up the game for a final 3-3 tie.

Keep working hard Sailors. Your hard work will be rewarded.
