Strong Teamwork in Lucknow
November 16th Lucknow Legion Pee Wee Tournament

The boys played their best hockey of the season (so far) at the Annual Lucknow Legion Pee Wee Tournament. The first game of the tourney was a fast-paced match against the Wingham Ironmen. At the 5:11 mark of the first period, Mark put the Sailors on the scoreboard with a nice shot off a pass from Ethan. Mark then landed an unassisted goal for the Sailors with less than a minute into the second period.

Despite a 5-1 ratio of shots on net in favour of the Sailors, the Ironmen tied up the game with 2 quick goals in the second and third periods. With determination and hard work, the Sailors kept hammering away at the Wingham goalie and Carter was able to land the game-winning goal with 4:25 left in the game (off assists from James and Tyler). Jacob was also strong between the pipes and made some amazing saves throughout the game. It was clearly the Sailors’ outstanding teamwork that secured them a well-deserved 3-2 win.

The next game pitted the Sailors against the formidable Mitchell Meteors and proved to be another fast-paced, hard fought battle. The boys once again showed that they have ‘the right stuff’ to play hard as a team, with some superb defensive play and goaltending by Bryson that kept the first two periods scoreless. Unfortunately, the game was plagued with numerous penalties for both teams that saw the Sailors in penalty killing mode for much of the game. The winning goal for the Meteors was on a power play, but on a whole - the Sailors showed exceptionally good penalty killing skills with sometimes 2 players in the box at once!

Let’s keep playing like this boys – your teamwork and determination is working! Go Sailors Go!
