Best Game of the Season!
January 19 – Lucknow
Sepoys at Goderich. Building on their strong game
against the BCH Ice Dogs, the kids did exactly what their coaches asked for (and
worked on at their last practice): POSITIONING! The result was the BEST game of the season (so far
anyways)! The kids exhibited all
the attributes of a winning team with outstanding positioning, passing and
teamwork. Combined with superb
goaltending by Tyler - Paige, Adrian, Jack and Connor were a strong defensive
force and repelled many offensive attacks by the Lucknow team. The strong offensive style of the
forward lines (Brendan, Ciaran, Cody, Curtis, Joey, Remi, Aiden, Teethal and
Ryan) was also a significant factor in winning the game.
Curtis got the Sailors’ scoring machine rolling with a nice wrist shot goal (off an assist from Remi). The Sepoy’s countered that goal to make it 1-1, but that was soon answered with a nice deflection goal by Aiden off an assist from Connor. Going into the second period with a narrow 2-1 lead, Remi got a top shelf goal at the 4:21 mark (on an assist from Cody) to end the period 3-1 for Goderich. The third period belonged to the Sailors with 3 more goals: Ryan landed the fourth goal of the game on a nice set-up from Teethal. The next goal was a demonstration of the benefits of positioning and passing: with a beautiful set-up from Brendan – to Ryan – to Remi! On a nice assist from Paige, the final goal also doubled as the hat trick for Remi and sealed the deal for the Sailors to make it a 6-2 victory! Every single one of the kids played an amazing game and should be very proud – let’s keep it going Sailors!
