First Win of the Season!
October 21 - Goderich Sailors vs. Listowel Cyclones.  With home ice advantage, the Sailors were out for some payback in their rematch with the Listowel Cyclones.  The barn burner game between the two rival teams began with a quick goal by Listowel with less than a minute into the first period.  Four minutes later, Evan got his team fired-up with an exciting rush down the length of the ice to land the Sailors’ first goal (assisted by Caleb and Joseph).  Tied 1-1, both teams came out strong in the second period with the first goal going to the Cyclones on a power play – but this was answered 10 seconds later with beautiful top shelf goal by Cody (assisted by Jack).

At the 1:45 mark of the second period, Cody put the Sailors in the lead at 3-2 with another great goal (assisted by Caleb and Ethan).  A determined Listowel came out fighting in the third period and pulled ahead 4-3 with two goals.  The Sailors fought back hard in the last half of the period with superb offense, defensive and goaltending - and turned the tide with a hat trick goal by Cody (assisted by Remi) to tie the game at 4-4.  The ‘TSN turning point’ of the game came with just 1:54 left on the clock with a beautiful deke goal by Caleb (assisted by Evan).  The Cyclones pulled the goalie and attempted to tie up the game - but despite a couple of very close calls, great goaltending by Grayson and hard work by the Sailors’ defensive line held them off to secure the win at 5-4.  The Sailors proved their prowess and ability to work together as a team with strong goaltending by Grayson, great offense play by Cody, Caleb, Jack, Joseph, Wilder, Jacob, Ethan and Connor - and outstanding defense by Evan, Ryan, Remi and Dylan.   Let’s keep it up Sailors!
