Atom AE Win First Exhibition
The Atom AE Team started off their season on Thursday night with an exhibition game against the Mitchell Meteors.
With most of the team having little or no competitive hockey experience under their belts the team came out looking great. They did a great job as a team on line changes, off sides and positional play. With great goaltending and defensive play from both ends the first period ended with no goals being scored. Early in the second Goderich was first to get on the board with an unassisted goal from Mitchell Consitt. At 9:17 of the second a shot from the blue line by Kody Ritchie found the back of the net putting Goderich up by two. There would be no more scoring until 13:12 of the third when the Meteors finally got one on the board. Then with 3:55 remaining Kody Ritchie would get Goderich back their two goal lead with a goal assisted by Cameron Brenner. The remaining minutes of the third the Meteors pushed hard scoring another with 2:36 remaining in the period but Goderich would hold them off with a great team effort to take the game 3 – 2.
